  13. 'JOB COST' is now distributed in a self extracting compressed format.
  14. This makes is possible to use a single 5 1/4" disk for distribution.
  15.  
  16. To decompress your copy of 'JOB COST' follow the following steps.
  17. HARD DISK:
  18. ----------
  19. 1. Make a sub-directory on your hard disk called 'JCMENU'.
  20.    C:>MD\JCMENU <enter>
  21. 2. Make this new sub-directory your current directory.
  22.    C:>CD\JCMENU <enter>
  23. 3. Copy all files on your distribution disk into this new sub-directory.
  24.    Place distribution disk in drive 'A' and enter.
  25.    C:JCMENU>COPY A:*.* <enter>
  26.    (You can remove the distribution disk after copy is completed.)
  27. 4. Decompress your 'JOB COST' program by entering.
  28.    C:JCMENU>INSTJOBC <enter>
  29. 5. Your 'JCMENU.EXE' program is now ready for use. You can delete the
  30.    'INSTJOBC.EXE' program from your hard disk as it is no longer needed.

  32. FLOPPY DISK: (2 disk drives required)
  33. -------------------------------------
  34. 1. Format a blank floppy disk and place in disk drive 'A'.
  35. 2. Insert distribution disk into disk drive 'B'.
  36. 3. Make disk drive 'A' your current disk drive by entering.
  37.    A: <enter>
  38. 4. To decompress the 'JOB COST' program and at the same time have it
  39.    copied to disk drive 'A' enter the following.
  40.    B:INSTJOBC <enter>
  41. 5. Upon completion you can remove the distribution disk from drive 'B'
  42.    and replace it with another blank formated disk that will contain
  43.    your data files.

  54. PRINTING YOUR USER MANUAL:

  56. 1. Place your 'JOB COST' distribution disk #2 into disk drive 'A'.
  57. 2. Turn on your printer.
  58. 3. Enter:  JCMANUL <Return>

  61. MODIFYING THE ENVIRONMENT:
  62. --------------------------
  63. The  'JOB  COST' application program may require  more  intensive
  64. disk utilization than other programs you are currently using. DOS
  65. permits you to alter the environment to facilitate this intensive
  66. disk utilization.
  67.  
  68. It is recommended that you create a CONFIG.SYS file (if the  file
  69. is   not  there  already)  which  contains  the   following   two
  70. statementes.
  71.  
  72.        FILES=20
  73.        BUFFERS=8
  74.  
  75. INSTALLING 'JOB COST'
  76. ---------------------------
  77. The diskette that your copy of 'JOB COST' was distributed to  you
  78. on *CAN NOT*  be used for running of 'JOB COST'. You should first
  79. make  a  back-up copy of the distribution disk and  then  install
  80. 'JOB COST' on either your hard disk or floppy disk system.

  82. Before  you  go any further print the contents  of  the  JCMANUAL
  83. file. Read the installation instructions contained in the  manual
  84. contained on your distribution disk #2.

  86. VERSION 1.13 (This version was never released.)

  88. Version 1.14 - new feature - Report: (C)ost center summary.
  89.                Prints a summary recap of all cost centers in
  90.                cost center/job sequence with totals for each
  91.                cost center group.

  93. Version 1.15 - new feature - Utilities - Job Support - You now
  94.                have the abilit to repost expense history to all
  95.                job on file. Due to the possibility of hardware
  96.                errors, etc - expenses may not be posted correctly
  97.                during the posting cycle. This utility will correct
  98.                the actual and projected totals in both the cost
  99.                center masters and the job masters.

  101. VERSION 1.16 - New field in expense history and edit records. You can
  102.                now enter a 'UNIT RATE'.  If you enter both a 'UNIT RATE'
  103.                and a 'UNIT QUANTITY' the total expense amount will be
  104.                calculated for you.  If you leave either 'UNIT RATE' or
  105.                'UNIT QUANTITY' as a zero value you will need to manually
  106.                enter the total expense amount.  You can change the
  107.                calculated expense amount to a fixed value.

  110.                 JCMENU you will automatically reformat your data files
  111.                 to the new data format the first time you use this
  112.                 version of JCMENU.  ** BE SURE YOU HAVE A CURRENT

  130. registration  number (PASSWORD) that will unlock you from this  5
  131. job limit, and all 'SHAREWARE' displays. You will also be sent  a
  132. printed copy of the full users manual, and if necessary the  most
  133. current copy of the 'JOB COST' program. You will also be notified
  134. of any new release and provided the option to purchase a copy  of
  135. it.  Micro  Data  Assist currently has over 10  programs  in  the
  136. SHAREWARE  distribution  channel. You will receive a  catalog  of
  137. these  programs  and  information on how to  obtain  a  copy  for
  138. evaluation.

  140. Your REGISTRATION number is unique to your company name and  only
  141. the  exact  format of your company name that is printed  on  your
  142. 'REGISTRATION'  form.  Any  change in  format  or  spelling  will
  143. require a new registration number.

  182. personam jurisdiction of said courts.
